Ann Martin Center 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner
Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM (PDT)
We're pleased to invite you to Ann Martin Center’s 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the beautiful Kaiser Rooftop Garden in downtown Oakland. Led by our Honorary Chair, Sarah Pearson, MD and Event Co-Chairs Betty Simpson and MaryAnn Pearson, this signature event will include a cocktail reception, silent and live auction, seated dinner, an inspiring client testimonial, special appeal and exciting raffle.
Many of the children seen at the Center have had their lives shattered by adversity. 86% of clients are at the poverty level or uninsured and over 40% have experienced physical, emotional or sexual abuse. As a result, these youth are at a greater risk for school dropout, self-destructive and violent behavior. Through our school-based and clinic services, we help rebuild students’ confidence, self-advocacy skills and the resilience to face life’s challenges.
If you’ve given thought to supporting Ann Martin Center, now is the perfect time to contribute to our cause and make a real and lasting impact for underserved children and families in our community.
Finally, the Board of Directors would like to thank the many hands and hearts that make Ann Martin Center’s mission a reality. We praise our very dedicated team of caring staff and volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure our clients receive the highest quality of care.
Without those who share their time and talents with us, we would not be able to accomplish the incredibly important work of “nurturing the minds and hearts of children.”
We thank all of you!
David S. Theis, DMH

When & Where
Ann Martin Center
Ann Martin Center is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children, youth, and their families in Alameda County by providing psychotherapy, educational therapy, and diagnostic assessment. We promote healthy emotional development and effective learning skills. We nurture confidence, resilience, and the ability to make positive choices that strengthen caring relationships, independence, and productivity.
The agency is named in memory of Ann Martin, MD, a pioneering behavioral pediatrician and youth advocate. Dr. Martin was among the first in California to lead research on psychological and educational intervention for social-emotional problems in childhood. We have a multi-disciplinary staff that includes learning specialists (several with a credential in educational therapy), psychologists, social workers and marriage family therapists.
